The Creator made all living things in our world; the two-legged and the four-legged, the winged ones and the ones that swim, the no-shoulders and the creepy crawlers, as well as all of the plants, but he did not have to make the dog. He already had one.

Andrea's Babycakes, CGC, PUP

Baby's first owner kicked her in the head, breaking her jaw and was going to shoot her. Friends rescued her and nursed her back to health on soft food (they could not afford taking her to a vet).

She came to us a few months later. If you raised your voice around her, she would belly up and wet herself. With a lot of love and obedience training, my wife turned her around. Six months later and Baby was certified as a therapy dog with Project PUP (Pets Uplifting People) in Pinellas County.

A Border Terrier mix (or "South of the Border Terrier" as my wife calls her), Baby has progressed to being the assertive one. She feels she is the hall monitor and should the other dogs playing get too rough, she will jump in and break it up. She has no idea that she is small and doesn't hesitate to tell the big dogs off. Fortunately, the big dogs listen to her.

Amy is enjoying retirement at present. Besides the various obedience, agility and working titles, Amy has performed with The Mighty Dogs, appeared on That's My Dog and Petsburg, USA as well as performed in a Shakespeare in the Park production of The Two Gentlemen of Veronna, playing the part of Crab (a stretch for her, playing an ugly male).

She has been part of the Pet Professor program with the local SPCA, where she and I would go into Pinellas County 2nd grade classrooms to teach pet safety, basic pet care and ownership responsibility. As a therapy dog, she has worked with Alzheimer patients and emotionally disturbed children.

I am a disabled veteran and when I became in need of a service dog, Amy stepped right up to take the job. She helped me through college and crossed the stage with me at graduation. She has traveled the country with me and has even visited the Whitehouse. In fact, she was allowed into areas of the Whitehouse that Buddy is not allowed in.

Sonrisa de Perra de Andriana

Risa is our other "rescued" dog. A puppy mill dog, she came to us at 2 1/2 years old, weighing only 55 lbs. She had no muscle tone on one side of her body due to living in kennels or crates for most of her life. She caterwalled when she walked and showed obvious signs of hip dysplasia. One lip is shorter than the other (genetic defect or injury). She was also in season when she arrived.

About three weeks later, we had to take her in for emergency surgery in the middle of the night for pyometria. For the next week I carried her to the vet's every morning for IV therapy and carried her back at night to maintain the stability of the home environment.

Today she is our spoiled rottenweiller and is a great representitive for the breed. She may not be even close to show quality, but she has the sweetest disposition of any dog I have ever owned.
